Plainsman Pottery Supply stocks dozens of clays, hundreds of glazes and tools, the top Canadian and American kilns for both ceramics and glass, and the raw materials for mixing your own glazes, with the full Plainsman clay line all under one roof. Our 800-square-foot store and 1,600-square-foot warehouse in south Edmonton serve the clay community from Red Deer north into the Northwest Territories and the Yukon: schools, guilds, clubs, independent potters and hobbyists – anyone who works with clay.

The people behind the counter
Our four staff share 75 years of experience in clay. Two are alumni of the Red Deer Polytechnic and University of Regina ceramics programs; the other two are studio technicians at a local teaching facility. We know clay, glazes, equipment and the many techniques that go into making, and we’re the place to come for expert advice on firing.

A bit of history
- Plainsman has been part of the Edmonton clay scene since the late 1970s.
- In 1987 the store came within a whisker of being wiped out by the Edmonton tornado. We’re still here.
- We grew up alongside a small handful of community clay clubs that have since blossomed into many more.
