VEEGUM T helps stabilize glaze suspensions by forming a network of fine clay platelets in water. This structure helps resist settling and contributes to viscosity. It weakens under stirring and rebuilds upon standing, allowing formulations to combine suspension stability with good flow during application. In ceramic bodies, VEEGUM T improves the plasticity of formulations such as porcelain, high-alumina and zirconia bodies. It also acts as a nonmigrating binder in extruded bodies, helping bind the material without concentrating at the surface during drying. Proper dispersion and hydration are important for consistent performance. When preparing a water dispersion, hydrate VEEGUM T in water free of other additives before incorporating the remaining ingredients. The required mixing time depends on equipment, mixing intensity, water temperature and batch size. Warmer water and greater mixing intensity generally speed hydration.
