Scallop Art Deco Hand Roller

The Scallop Art Deco design is rows of overlapping scallops, each one a fan of nested arcs, so the clay takes on a stepped wave pattern with an art deco feel. MKM carves each hand roller from hardwood and finishes it with tung oil. It is 10 cm (4 in) long and about 1.5 cm (5/8 in) across, small and light enough to roll up the wall of a thrown piece as well as across a slab. The ends are rounded, so passes laid side by side blend without a line between them, and the bevelled edges lift away from the clay cleanly without a release agent. Roll once with even pressure on soft clay. Clean it with water and a soft toothbrush.
