Laguna Water-Based Liquid Latex

Laguna Water-Based Liquid Latex is a flexible, peelable latex resist used in ceramic decoration and mold-making applications. It can be brushed or applied directly to pottery to temporarily prevent glaze, slip, or other materials from adhering, then peeled away after drying.

Laguna Water-Based Liquid Latex is a water-based latex material designed for use as a removable resist in ceramic work. Applied directly to leather-hard or bisque-fired ware, or over a raw glaze surface, it forms a flexible film that prevents subsequent glaze or decorative materials from adhering to the coated area. After the surrounding glaze has been applied and dried, the latex can be peeled away to reveal the protected surface.

The latex can be applied with a brush and used repeatedly to create layered or detailed resist patterns. For brush application, dipping the bristles in liquid soap before loading the brush with latex is recommended, which helps the dried material wash from the brush with soapy water.

This material can be used as a simple water-based latex suitable for producing flexible molds, with good reproduction of surface detail and low shrinkage. For ceramic mold or resist applications, it should be applied in layers, allowing each layer to dry before adding another.

Because the material is water-based latex, it is sensitive to freezing. Freezing can damage the product, so care is required during cold-weather storage and shipping. All latex must be completely removed before the ceramic piece is fired.
