RedArt Clay it is dry milled to 200 mesh and is designed for use as a primary component in red-firing ceramic bodies. RedArt offers excellent plasticity straight from the bag and can be used at 100% as a red-burning earthenware body.
When used as the primary clay component, a firing range of approximately cone 04 to cone 4 is suggested. The clay develops its characteristic red colour through firing, making it suitable for terra cotta and other red-firing ceramic applications. Additions of approximately 10–15% ball clay or GoldArt can further enhance plasticity for wheel work.
Typical calcined chemical analysis includes approximately 64.2% silica, 16.4% alumina, and 7.0% iron oxide, with smaller amounts of titania and alkali oxides. These values are typical averages rather than guaranteed specifications and can vary with normal manufacturing conditions.
