A round plaster batt 305 mm (12 in) across. Plaster pulls water out of whatever sits on it: spread slurry or too-wet clay on it to bring it back to working stiffness, or set a freshly thrown piece on it to firm the base. Keep the surface clean, since chips of plaster in clay blow out in the kiln.
