The deck is the reason to look at this roller. It is polypropylene, a dense plastic that does not absorb water, does not stain and is not bothered by glaze or cleaning chemicals, so it wipes clean after every session. Under it, folded steel legs give the frame its strength and rigidity, and the fittings are aluminium alloy, so there is nothing on it to rust in a damp studio. Two rollers turn together and press the slab from above and below, the thickness is set on a gauge and runs from paper thin to a thick sculptural slab, and the large handwheel gives a steady, controlled pass. A canvas cloth comes with it.
