One corner comes to a definite point, and run along a turning piece it will cut a crisp horizontal band rather than the soft groove a rounded rib leaves. Around from the point there are two flat sides for compressing and radiused edges for blending, so one tool handles the line work and the tidying up after it. Red is the second-softest grade. It follows a curve rather than correcting one, which is what you want for burnishing and slip work and wrong for truing a wall. Polymer, so there is no metal edge to bruise the clay. Central hole for hanging.
