Kemper's mould knife is 203 mm (8 in) of hardwood, blade and handle in one piece. It trims the spare (waste clay) from the top of a slip-cast mould, and being wood it will not cut into the plaster the way a steel knife does, which is what keeps the mould's edges sharp over many casts.
