Measure the inside of a gallery with one end, and the other end is already set to the size of the lid. One tool does the work of two calipers, with less guesswork. Move the screw to the lower set of holes and the caliper allows for 12.5 percent shrinkage, so you can make a new lid for a piece that's already fired.
