Lincoln #60 Fireclay

Lincoln 60 Fireclay is a plastic, buff-firing clay used in stoneware and sculpture bodies. It contributes smooth working properties and develops increasing density at stoneware temperatures.

Suggested retail price. In-store prices and availability may vary by location.

Lincoln 60 Fireclay is supplied as a dry material for ceramic body formulations. Its plasticity and smooth feel suit blends for throwing, handbuilding and sculpture.

Published reference tests report drying shrinkage of approximately 5.5–6.0%. Water absorption decreases from about 3.0% at cone 6 to 1.5% at cone 8 and 0.2% at cone 10. Reported firing shrinkage reaches 8.5% at cone 8 before decreasing at higher temperatures as expansion begins.

Although sold as a fireclay, Lincoln 60 can become overfired at higher stoneware temperatures, with bloating reported by cone 11. Low absorption alone does not confirm a suitable firing temperature.
