The three position switch sets a section of the kiln to low, medium or high on manual Skutt kilns. Replace it when a setting no longer holds, the knob turns without changing the heat, or the switch shows signs of burning. Turn the kiln off and unplug it before opening the switch box, and match the wiring to the old switch. If you are not comfortable working with kiln wiring, have a qualified technician install it.
