Gum Solution
Gum Solution is a cellulose gum already dissolved in water, ready to pour and measure. It thickens a glaze slurry, and once the water has left it leaves a film that protects the dried coat from dusting or chipping.

Gum Solution is most useful in a brushing glaze, where the layer has to stay on the brush, go on evenly and then accept a second coat. The gum thickens the water, so a loaded brush does not run. It also slows the bisque drawing the water back out, which keeps the layer workable long enough for the next stroke to join the last. Thickening slows settling without preventing it, so a heavy glaze with gum added still settles over time.

- Thickens a glaze so a loaded brush lays down an even coat
- Binds the dried coat against dusting and chipping before the kiln
- Slows settling in the bucket without stopping it
