G200 is a potash feldspar, so potassium is its main flux. Like any feldspar it supplies alumina and silica along with the alkalis, and it is used both in glazes and in clay bodies.

In a glaze a feldspar is the main melter, and only clay and silica are used more widely in ceramics. A potash feldspar melts to a stiffer glass than a soda feldspar does, and G200 is low in iron, so it suits clear and white glazes. In a clay body it can be used as the main flux, developing the glass that vitrifies and strengthens the fired ware, and because it is nonplastic, it also reduces dry shrinkage and warping. Stoneware bodies commonly use between a tenth and a fifth of their weight as feldspar, and porcelains considerably more.
