One end has two blunt stainless steel prongs that cut a bevelled strip of clay at the width you set, without marking the surface below. The other end is firm, flexible silicone with a concave centre, which presses the new foot into an even shape and smooths its edges in one stroke. The silicone also rounds the top of a rim, and the curves on its sides finish small details. It gives you a quick, consistent foot on hand built work.
