Ferro Frit 3195

Frit 3195 is a calcium borosilicate frit with a lot of boron and enough alumina to stand on its own. With only kaolin added it makes a glossy low fire glaze.

Suggested retail price. In-store prices and availability may vary by location.

Frit 3195 is a glass that has been melted and ground back to powder, so fluxes that would dissolve in the glaze water stay in the glaze. It is close to a complete glaze on its own. Stir in some kaolin to keep it in suspension and it makes a glossy glaze at cone 06 to 04. Use a little more kaolin for cone 04 than for cone 06. It fuses around 815°C and flows around 925°C, and the melt is fluid. Its thermal expansion is low, so it will not add to a crazing problem.
