Ceramic Decal – Blue Sea Life

The design is screen printed in underglaze onto thin rice paper. Lay the printed side against the piece and dampen the back of the paper with a wet brush or sponge, and the design moves onto the clay much like a temporary tattoo. On leather hard ware, clay that is firm but still damp, pressing gently over the paper with a rubber rib helps it release. Peel the paper away once the design has transferred. Greenware takes it most easily, and bisque works too. The design can be left bare or covered with a clear or transparent glaze. Test it with your own clay and glaze first.
