AL12 is the 305 mm (12 in) caliper in Kemper's aluminium range. It is less for measuring than for repeating. Set the arms to the inside diameter of a gallery and every lid you throw afterwards can be checked against the same setting. Aluminium keeps it light, which suits a tool that lives on the wheel head next to wet hands. Kemper makes 203 mm (8 in), 254 mm (10 in) and 305 mm (12 in) versions. Pick by the largest diameter you throw.
