8R7 is one of seven shapes in Kemper's eight-inch ribbon range, with a cutting head at each end. One end is a rounded pear loop; the other a trapezoid, wider and shallower than the one on 8R6, which is otherwise its near twin. Kemper's ribbon tools are named for the thin flat ribbon of steel that forms the cutting head. It gives a sharp edge with extra strength along the line of the cut. At 203 mm (8 in) it is long enough to reach into a hollowed form without your knuckles catching on the rim.
