8R2 is one of seven shapes in Kemper's eight-inch ribbon range, with a cutting head at each end. One end is a flat-ended trapezoid loop; the other a large rounded oval loop. Kemper's ribbon tools are named for the thin flat ribbon of steel that forms the cutting head. It gives a sharp edge with extra strength along the line of the cut. At 203 mm (8 in) it is long enough to reach into a hollowed form without your knuckles catching on the rim.
