Celadon Green takes its colour from two colourants working against each other in the same crystal. Cobalt absorbs strongly in the orange, chromium absorbs across several other bands, and green is the window of light left between them. Chromium does a second job as well, keeping the cobalt stable through the firing. Mason suggests a zinc free base for the fullest colour.
