Potter's Choice is a cone 5/6 glaze made to give the look of a reduction firing in an electric kiln. These glazes move as they fire. They break where they run thin over an edge or a carved line and float a second colour to the surface, which is why they show best on textured work. The line is also made for layering over a Celadon, a Satin Matte or another Potter's Choice colour. On its own it takes 3 to 4 brush coats over cone 04 bisque, with each coat left to dry before the next, and a medium speed firing to cone 5 or 6, 1186 to 1222°C. Too thin a coat will not float and fires flat. The clay body changes the result too, so fire a test tile with each new batch. AMACO rates it dinnerware safe. AMACO has discontinued this colour, so it is available while our stock lasts.
