How it started

In September we passed 1,000 followers on Instagram, and it seemed like the right moment to give something back. So we put up 1,000 pounds of clay: 500 pounds for one lucky potter, and 500 pounds for a school of their choosing.

Two weeks later, more than 1,000 schools had been nominated in the comments. We did what any reasonable clay company would do and added another 1,000 pounds. The giveaway now has two grand prize winners, and every school that gets nominated is a reminder of how many people out there are teaching kids to work with their hands.

The first winner will be announced on October 2, 2026. Nominations are still open.

How to enter

Entry happens on Instagram, and it takes about a minute:

  1. Follow @plainsmanclaysltd on Instagram.
  2. Like one of the official contest posts (linked below).
  3. Tag a friend in the comments.
  4. Comment with the name of the school you’re nominating for the extra 500 pounds.

You can enter on each contest post, so commenting on both gives you two entries. Your Instagram account needs to be public at the time of the draw so we can verify your entry.

Bonus entry: sign up for the Plainsman Insider newsletter (there’s a form at the bottom of this page) during the contest period for one additional entry. It’s optional, and you don’t need it to enter or win.
